How Does A Solid Become Liquid The higher temperature in an object, the faster the molecules move. When the temperature of ice reaches 0° C, t he molecules break free. When a substance change from solid to liquid is called melting point . Freezing When ice is melt and become water it can be reversed by cooling the liquid. When water melt the particles slow down and come closer together. This process is called freezinng point . The temperatureis constant while the crystal structure forms and heat is released. Viscosity is a materials resistance to flow, glass has no freezing point because when the temperature of the liquid decreases it becomes more viscous, it becomes thicker and resistant to flow.
